Welcome to Saskatoon Sports Tourism

Saskatoon Sports Tourism is proud to lead the Saskatchewan Bid to Host either the 2010 or the 2012 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships in Saskatoon / Regina. Other cities submitting formal bids by the April 1st deadline for the 2010 event are Winnipeg / Brandon and Halifax / Moncton. Other cities officially bidding for the 2012 championship are Toronto and Calgary / Edmonton.
Bids that make the Hockey Canada short list will then make in-person presentions to the site selection committee in Toronto in early June. A final decision as to which cities will host the 2010 and the 2012 Championships is expected sometime in July.

What is Sports Tourism?
We are a non-profit organization formed to guide the attraction, retention and creation of sports tourism activities in the city of Saskatoon.
Sports Tourism is defined as any activity in which people are attracted to a particular centre as an event participant, an event spectator or attend sports attractions and business meetings.
